Our everyday account

Our everyday bank account is called Select. It has no monthly fee and with it you can get a range of time-saving features, such as a Visa Debit card and our easy to use Mobile Banking app. This account can be opened as a joint bank account. The app is available to Online Banking customers with a UK or international mobile number in specific countries.

Student Account

Student life is tough enough as it is, so we’re doing our bit to help. Our Student account has no monthly fee.

  • Get a free National Express Young Persons Coachcard when you sign up to Online Banking and select to receive paperless statements.
  • A Visa Debit card
  • An easy to use Mobile Banking app.

The app is available to Online Banking customers with a UK or international mobile number in specific countries.

Documents accepted...

Proof of identity

When opening an account with us we will need to verify your identity. To make this easier for you we have listed out the types of ID we can accept. See our list of ID.

You can use certified copies of one of the following documents to prove your identity:

  • UK/EU/EEA Passport- a valid visa is required in addition for all other passports, or
  • UK/EU/EEA photo card driving licence, or
  • EU/EEA National Identity Card (if applicable) 

Proof of address

We also need another document to use as proof of your address and this can’t be the same document used as proof of ID. See our list of acceptable documents.

You can use one of the following documents to prove your address:

  • A gas/electricity/home telephone/water bill (which must be less than six months old and cannot be printed from the internet), or
  • A mortgage statement (which is less than 12 months old and cannot be printed from the internet), or
  • A bank statement from another banking institution (which must be less than 6 months old and cannot be printed from the internet, or
  • UK/EU/EEA photo card driving licence (providing this hasn't been used to prove your identity) 

Proof of your Student status

The simplest way to prove your student status is to enter your 16 digit UCAS Status Code in to the application form. This is a 16 digit code emailed to you by UCAS.

All documents must be on headed paper and match the address on your application:

  • UCAS/NMAS Letter. This must include the UCAS/NMAS application number.
  • Student Loan Company/LEA/SAAS Award Letter.
  • Letter of Acceptance. This must be issued by a Government /LEA/SAAS funded University or College and the course must have a least six months left to run unless it’s an English course.

Print and fill in the ‘Current Account application form for EU residents’ below. Then send it along with the required ID documents to the address provided on the application form.

We’ll need some personal details, such as your address history and proof of ID.

What happens next?

Once we've received your application, we’ll get in touch to let you know the account we can offer you. Once you confirm you’re happy to proceed, we'll open your account.
